College Deadlines for Merits & Promotions

NOTE:  All deadlines will be enforced.  Departments are expected to adhere to the following deadlines.  Requests for an extension to the deadline for submission of a merit or promotion will be denied unless there is strong justification,  If an extension is needed, the request must be received prior to the established deadline and will be approved for only a few days or a couple of weeks, at most.  Actions received late, without an approved extension, will not be accepted.

Departments may not submit requests for retroactive advancements.

  • Promotion to Associate Rank (Senate & Specialist in Cooperative Extension)
  • Promotion to FULL Rank (Senate & Specialist in Cooperative Extension)
November 1, 2017                          
  • Promotion to Associate Rank (Federation)
  • Promotion to FULL Rank (Federation)
December 8, 2017                                      
  • Associate Rank merits to Step 4 or Step 5 that do not meet redelegated pilot guidelines (Senate/Specialist in CE/Professional Researcher)

December 15, 2017                                              

  • Recommendations for appointment/reappointment of Endowed Chair/Professorship holders if the appointment/reappointment is to be announced at the April donor dinner.
  • All merits to Step 6, Above Scale Merits and other non-redelegated actions:  Third action & beyond for department chairs and Associate Deans

January 12, 2018                         

  • Academic Administrator and Academic Coordinators merits that do not skip a step

January 19, 2018                                                        

  • Appraisals 
  • All remaining redelegated merits

Deferrals and Five Year Reviews are due at the time the corresponding regular action would be due.

Extensions must be requested prior to the due date of the action. No extensions for the submission of late merits or promotions will be granted without strong justification

Deferrals and 5-year reviews are due in the Office of the Vice Provost – Academic Affairs at the time the corresponding regular action would be due. These actions are due at the time of the corresponding regular action to ensure timely decisions to pursue regular actions.

Appointment actions with an effective date other than July 1 should be received at the Senate Office at least four weeks prior to the effective date of the appointment.
