Assistant Professor in Irrigation/Water Management Engineering (9-month tenure track). The candidate will hold an appointment in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering and address water application technology, water-use efficiency and evaluation and use of alternative water supplies for irrigated agriculture that ultimately consider water resource and agricultural sustainability given increasing environmental impacts and water scarcity. The position will consider agricultural water management at a systems level that includes analysis and evaluation of water demand and supply with reference to spatial and temporal distributions. This will likely include consideration of the use of reclaimed or recycled waters for irrigation, precision application of water for crop production, associated impacts on downstream resources and users including groundwater and surface waters and soil-water interactions, water quality and associated energy usage, environmental implications, and efficient resource utilization. The successful applicant will assist with lower and upper division undergraduate teaching in engineering and technology, and develop graduate level coursework in their research area. Candidates must have a strong documented engineering background with a PhD in engineering or a BS in engineering with a PhD in a water science field. They must have the ability to conduct both independent and cooperative research, and the ability to teach engineering courses to undergraduate and graduate students, with special reference to water and irrigation engineering. We are particularly seeking faculty who have demonstrably shown evidence of a strong commitment towards expanding opportunities for women and underrepresented groups in the engineering sciences.
