The Departments of Biological and Agricultural Engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, Davis, invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position in the area of Robotics and Intelligent Control Systems with emphasis in agricultural and biological systems applications.
The successful candidate must have expertise and experience related to intelligent control systems and robotics; a record of excellence in scholarly research and demonstrated ability and interest in teaching related to automation and control science and engineering including, but not limited to, precision agriculture, robotics, modeling and design of agricultural or related machinery, sensors, controls, actuators, power systems, and human-machine interfaces; a commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses within their general area of expertise and advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in Biological Systems Engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
To be considered, applicants must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in agricultural engineering, biological systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related field that merits appointment to the tenure-track title of Assistant Professor in Biological and Agricultural Engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The successful candidate is expected to establish a competitively funded research program and must be able to teach undergraduate and graduate engineering courses in Biological Systems engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. We are particularly seeking faculty who have demonstrably shown evidence of a strong commitment towards expanding opportunities for women and underrepresented groups in the engineering sciences. The resulting hire will be at the Assistant Professor rank regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications.
