A devoted team

Thank you to the staff for helping our college thrive

I love November. The morning air is crisp. Our trees are putting on brilliant displays of color before their leaves rustle and fall to the ground, and next week many of us will be gathering with friends and family for Thanksgiving. We have much to be grateful for here at UC Davis.

We are consistently ranked among the best universities in the world, and the college’s strengths in agricultural, environmental, and human sciences are the reason why. Another accolade came recently when U.S. News and World Report ranked us 1st in the world for plant and animal sciences. Our faculty are world leaders in developing solutions to many issues facing society.

Today I want to acknowledge the extensive support network that helps our faculty function at a high level. We have about 800 staff members (career and casual employees), as well as 750 student workers who provide vital support to the college. These are the people who maintain and manage infrastructure, facilities, computer networks, business operations, recruitment, student advising and counseling, events, fundraising, communications, and other crucial activities. It’s a big job keeping the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences on top of its game.

The devotion of our staff members is undeniably one of the reasons for the success of our college. I know they care about our reputation because I see it in the quality of their work. On behalf of the senior leadership of the college, I want to extend a huge “thank you” to the staff for being part of the CA&ES team and helping us grow, prosper, and thrive. I wish all of you the best during this season of gratitude.
