Why did you choose UC Davis?

After visiting multiple universities I was looking for the one that stood out. I’m not sure if it was the busy campus, friendly people, or all the bikes, but after visiting the campus on Decision Day I felt like I could really see myself here.

What is your favorite class?

My favorite class was my food science 100B Lab. We learned all about food properties and then did experiments with different foods. A lab where you don’t have to wear goggles AND you get to eat the experiment? I’m in.

How would you describe the professors?

All of the professors at Davis are extremely knowledgeable in their fields and you get to see that first hand in your classes. They also want to make sure you understand what they’re teaching, so don’t be afraid to ask them questions!

Where is your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite place on campus is the west side of the arboretum. It’s usually less crowded than the other part of the arboretum, so it’s the perfect place to go for a run or study outside. And in the spring there are tons of adorable baby ducks!

Which student services do you recommend the most?

I recommend using the Internship and Career Center and the free massage chairs in the health center.  The ICC can help you find internships where you can get real world experience that relates to your major or interests and the massage chairs can help you manage the stress of a full schedule.

How is your UC Davis education preparing you for your career choice?

Every class I take has taught me useful skills and information to help me work towards my goal of becoming a Registered Dietitian.  From presentation skills to laboratory skills, UC Davis has helped me grow as a student and as a person to prepare me for my future after college.

Why should other students consider UC Davis?

The campus and the town here are perfect for college.  Davis is a small college town, so even when you aren’t on campus you see students everywhere and usually run into people you know.  UC Davis has amazing academic programs, and outside of class there is something to interest everyone.

What do you do for fun?

I like exploring different areas of Davis when I go running, and going line dancing when I feel the need to listen to country music all night. On campus, I like soaking up the sun with my friends at the REC pool and working out at the ARC.
